Government and Hidden Taxes: The Challenges of Funding Government With Hidden Property Taxes

I have also spoken in part 5 of this series how property taxes are a hidden tax passed on to renters of homes, renters of apartments, and customers of businesses.

I have spoken of how, speaking of homes, there is an increasing number of seniors and disabled who will potentially qualify for the senior-disabled discount rate for property taxes.

So, as with per-gallon fuel taxes, so with property taxes.  Either the property tax rate will keep going up as more housing properties fall under the reduced tax rate, or government is going to have to find an alternative source of funding.

Also, as I stated in a prior part of this series, raising property tax rates only makes it harder for the lower income members of society to buy or even to afford to rent a better quality of home.

Ending property taxes in favor of a transparent tax would lower the cost of owning or renting. It would also ensure that tax revenues would increase with any increase in taxable consumer spending without having to increase tax rates.

Thank you for taking time to read and ponder my opinion on this topic.
