Renters, Home Owners, and Hidden Taxes: Topic Increasing Numbers of Seniors Creates Potential for Lower Property Tax Revenues

For several years to come, there is going to be an increase in the number of seniors
because of the baby-boom generation that is now entering retirement.  As more of these seniors qualify for the senior discount rate for property taxes, government will either have to raise the property tax rate on the decreasing numbers who do not qualify, or they will have to look for alternate sources of funding to replace the lost tax revenues.

Under a properly designed transparent tax system, this concern does not exist.   Government only has to watch for changes in the total amount of taxable consumer spending.
