Consumers and Hidden Taxes: Hidden Taxes Hurt the Neediest Members of Society

Under our current taxing system, every business has hidden taxes that it must pay.  Even those businesses that provide products and services to the neediest members of society.

Take the cost of something as basic as food bought from a grocery store.  The wages paid to the different workers who helped to produce, process, and deliver those goods to the store are included in the prices customers pay.

In Washington State, their sales tax, which is transparent in nature, isn’t added to the cost of most food items bought at places like grocery stores.  I like this idea because the neediest members of society need every dollar they have to get the food they need to eat.

Yet, because hidden taxes are already included in the prices charged for those basic food items, some of their limited money is being used to help business pay the cost of these hidden taxes.  Because of this, the neediest members of society are being tricked into paying more for the basic items they need such as food.

Why are they being tricked into paying more?  Because these needy members of society are being tricked into paying the hidden taxes business is passing down to them.

Thank you for taking time to read and ponder my opinion on this topic.
