Employees and Hidden Taxes: Hidden Taxes From the Employee Point of View

If you are an employee, you may not want to believe that you are being effected by hidden taxes.  After all, you see all the taxes that are deducted from your pay check.  Right?

Hidden Payroll Taxes you don’t see on your paycheck.

Yes, there are Hidden Payroll Taxes that your employer is required to pay, which are not deducted from your paycheck.  They are in the form of “Matching Taxes.”

There are certain payroll taxes that are deducted from your paycheck.  Some of these payroll taxes that are deducted from your paycheck, your employer is required to pay a matching amount of the same tax, in your name.  This effectively doubles the amount of that tax that is paid to government in your name by your employer.

As I am using the term “Hidden” in this series, it is a hidden payroll tax because it is hidden both from you and from the customers of your employer.  Feel free to ask your employer about these matching taxes, or at least ask whoever does their payroll.

Their company policy may not allow them to tell you how much those hidden taxes are costing them as a total each year, but they should at least be able to look at your paystub with you and say, “this item and that item are the taxes we have to pay a matching amount on.”

Thank you for taking time to read and ponder my opinion on this topic.
