Transit Part 9: Potential Employee Objections

Potential objections some employees may raise and possible responses are:

I like the fact that under our current system, unless there’s a problem, I don’t have anyone looking over my shoulder.

When you’re out driving your route you still won’t have anyone looking over your shoulder.  Also keep in mind that under this new program you will be able to start responding to more of your customer’s requests, such as change of destination.  Every job has its good and bad points.  If you choose to look, you’ll see that this program has more good points going for it than your current routing system.

With fewer work hours, I’m not going to make as much money from all the overtime pay I’ve been getting.

Within the current industry, speaking of para-transit service providers, over-time is usually never guaranteed, and when it is experienced, it is usually only by the more senior veteran drivers that are also high in union seniority.  The same current system also creates the risk of loss of hours when passengers schedule fewer rides.  Under my program, your work hours and work schedule will become much more regular, such as is currently experienced by fixed route drivers.

With all the dynamically flexible changes you’ve got planned, every driver will need to be as experienced as an Insert Route driver.  New drivers won’t have a chance.

That won’t really be a problem.  If your employer does not currently have them, by the time this program is in place, your buses will be equipped with computer screens that will have your manifests and will also have navigation and mapping helps right on the screen for you.  Para-transit services that are already using them are hearing good things from the drivers.

Thank you for taking time to read my program.  Obviously, if I didn't believe in my own program, I would not have published it for others to read and ponder on.
