Transit Part 2: Hub Concept as Adapted For My Program

In adapting this Hub Concept to my program, a county or metro area would be divided up into several local areas, each with its own Hub.  The design and operational details of the actual Hub facility itself will be detailed in later sections.

The Hub would serve much the same purpose as a Greyhound bus depot.  Passengers who are going an extended distance within the overall service area covered by their service provider would be picked up by a bus servicing their local area and taken to the nearest hub.  From there, they would be transferred to a bus that would take them to the Hub that is nearest their final destination.  At that point, a bus servicing that local area would take them to their final destination.

I believe this accomplishes the spirit and intent of the Federal Transit Administrations interpretation of the ADA requirement of Origin-to-Destination service for para-transit passengers.  The key to making this work is having each Hub designed to facilitate maximum possible efficiency for loading and unloading passengers at the Hub.  Efficiency at the hub is important to obtaining and maintaining customer support, and to minimize any potential discomfort or other risk associated with loading and unloading from a bus.  The manner in which I have addressed this specific concern is explained in the section dealing the design and operation of the Hub facility itself.

Thank you for taking time to read my program.  Obviously, if I didn't believe in my own program, I would not have published it for others to read and ponder on.
